5. Rotating Handrail
This handrail allows the bed linens to be made without interference of the device. Many older adults will refuse a bed handrail if it looks juvenile, institutional or doesn't allow the bed to be made. A rotating handrail called the Arco Rail System is a rather new device. The handrail rotates 360º and locks securely in four positions to assist getting in and out of bed and repositioning while in bed. It may help those with balance problems, hypotension, and arthritic conditions. It attaches directly to the bed's side rails so no tools are needed. It will fit onto twin, full and queen size beds with metal side rails. An extension bar will be required for a king size bed. There is a weight allowance of 250 pounds.
