C. Bath Devices

3. Transfer pole

Another device that can be used to support bathtub transfers is the safety pole, particularly if there is limited space for transfers and other assistive devices. It can be mounted outside but next to the tub. Or it can be mounted by the toilet for assistance with toilet transfers. It is held in position by suspension from floor to ceiling by using a turn-buckle mechanism located at the bottom of the bar. What is versatile about this device is that it can be used in any room where assistance is needed to stand for transfers. For individuals who do not have a large, upper extremity range of motion, the pole can be grasped at any area for support.
